Friday Prompt: Strengths

Read this on galpod.com.

I mentioned earlier this week the idea of working with our strengths. I invite you today to reflect on your strengths. If you don’t know where to start, think about things that “light you up” in a good way. Things that you love doing. Things that, when you do them, you lose track of time. Things that, in an ideal world, you would do for a living. Make a list of those things. What is the common thread? It can be the way or the why you do those things, not necessarily the things themselves. For instance, if you love cooking, is it the creativity of it—trying something new? Or is it about feeding your family or nourishing your body? Take a look at the table of strengths, and see if anything resonates. Once you have a few strengths, think about how to bring them to everything you do: work, writing, relationships, or any other aspect of your life. What does that look like?

Note: it is common to feel uncomfortable with even naming or thinking about our strengths. I feel extremely uncomfortable with this kind of work because I feel like I’m “bragging”. Note this feeling, and do the exercise anyway. Remember: you don’t have to share it if you don’t want to.

Hey there! I would love to hear whatever you're willing to share that came from the prompt. Please comment below or click on the chat window, even if it's only to tell me that you've found this prompt useful (or ridiculous).
